BD-Live technology will enable you to connect this player to the Internet to download such data as additional scenes, shorts, trailers, and to join in multi-player interactive games that are linked to BD bonus content contained in Blu-ray discs. This player offers an Ethernet port, 1GB built-in memory, and (2) USB 2.0 ports for easy access to BD-Live content.

Blu-ray Disc Features

Blu-ray discs, with full 1080p resolution, offer picture quality beyond anything available and yield 5-10 times the capacity of standard DVDs. Additional features include theater-quality uncompressed audio (supporting 8 channels of Liner PCM), up to 32 streams of audio, interactive capability, seamless menus, integrated games and hi-def bonus and educational features.

HDMI (v 1.3) Output with 1080p HD Video Upconversion

HDMI Version 1.3 is capable of upconverting video signals to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p by utilizing an ultra high bandwidth digital-to-analog conversion and processing to detect image changes at the pixel level. The BD-P3600 supports the following video signals: 480i/60Hz, 480p/60Hz, 720p/60Hz, 1080i/60Hz, and 1080p/60Hz/24Hz.

Streaming Capability

Choose from thousands of movies and TV episodes from Netflix (with optional subscription) for instant disc-less viewing, and listen to Internet Radio via Pandora's personalized digital music service. Broadcast your own movies on YouTube or stream videos from millions of YouTube users to your TV.

Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD Decoding

If you have a 7.1-channel home theater receiver, you're in luck because this player is capable of decoding Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD audio. Dolby Digital Plus uses less compression than regular Dolby Digital to reproduce fuller and more dynamic sound effects with up to eight discrete channels of surround sound. In addition, it features a 7.1-channel discrete audio output as an alternative to the optical digital audio output.

DTS-HD Master Audio and High-Resolution Audio

DTS-HD Master Audio supports bitrates up to 24.5Mbps, 7.1 discrete channels of 96KHz/24-bit audio, and is ideal for HDMI Version 1.3 cables. This technology reproduces true-to-life audio the way the director intended. DTS-HD High-Resolution Audio also offers 7.1 discrete channels of 96KHz/24-bit audio, but only supports bitrates up to 6Mbps.

Multi-Format Versatility

DivX Playback

DivX is video compression software which enables high-quality video to be compressed into very small files, then downloaded onto a CD-R or CD-RW and played back with very little loss of quality.
